The project began as a proposal for a series of conflict resolution meetings with Nepalese and Bhutanese leaders, but evolved into an active celebration and soccer tournament to energize both sides and bring them together.

United Dashain stirred interest in additional tournaments and play between soccer teams, and eventually led to the formation of the Triad International Soccer League.
